ABSTRACT

A collection of 155 fishes, grouped in 19 families, including juvenile and adult forms was obtained through captures at the bottom and demersal areas of the channels of Aysén (XI Chilean administrative Region). Captures were between 0,5 and 275 m. The highest representation in number of species belongs to the order Perciformes, with 12 species. The species with the highest number of specimens was the rat-tail fish Coelorynchus fasciatus, with the 33,5% of the total number of individuals of the complete sample. The size analysis of the specimens allowed to found an important amount of small sizes belonging to juvenile fishes, which leads to suggest careful attention in case of arising interest in possible biological interventions in the Southern Chile channels, because those juvenile forms are labile and delicate.
